ELEMENT DETROIT AT THE METROPOLITAN
The historic renovation of Element Detroit at the Metropolitan transformed a long-vacant 14-story, Neo-Gothic building in downtown Detroit into a green-focused Element brand hotel. The stunning renovation–with an emphasis on preservation–brought back to life many of the original architectural details, including the exterior facade, vaulted lobby ceiling, decorative lobby staircase and terrazzo floor in the guest corridors. In line with the Element brand, the building is in the process of becoming LEED-certified and takes a forward-thinking approach in its use of materials and methods. The brand enforces strict sustainability standards, including artwork and decor sourced from recycled and repurposed materials, low-VOC paint and LED bulbs. Eco-friendly operating practices ensure the hotel will continue to promote a sustainable future: all guestrooms are equipped with filtered water systems, low-flow faucets and toilets, and eco-conscious toiletry products.
