The historic lobby of this 1925 Beaux Arts office building received an update that respects the existing design while infusing a fresh mid-century sensibility.
A deep green finish on the vestibule soffit and above the elevator bays accentuate the ornate gold elevator doors and rich veining of the existing marble wall slabs. A sunlight soft seating group sits atop a richly patterned rug and features iconic mid-century furniture pieces that create a refined yet welcoming reception area.
The lobby’s existing oak accents accentuate the space’s new reception desk. Inspired by a mid-century credenza, the walnut desk sits atop tapered legs with brass tips that make the substantial piece feel lighter. The desk is detailed with caning framed out with walnut trim and a custom walnut surround elegantly displays the digital directory for the building tenants. A rich soapstone stop perfectly ties together the green of the walls and the veining and movement of the marble cladding.
