The Martec Group’s Royal Oak office had two project-defining needs: design that speaks to the new direction of the market research firm and a playful space that helps attract, retain and inspire a new generation of researchers.

Bold blue paint calls attention to the space’s structural elements and emphasizes the industrial vibe of the space while punchy persimmon millwork and light blue tile create warmth and sophistication. Soaring ceilings are punctuated with playful oversized light fixtures and natural wood floors anchor the space. Dashes of bold color show up in the rainbow of shell chairs dotting the space while an expansive open shelf system allows the team to show off dishware and collectibles.

The design conveys the firm’s professional expertise while creating a vibrant, high-energy atmosphere, including framed jerseys, black and white photographs, pennants, and bubble hockey that speak to the Martec team’s shared interest in sports. The office boasts several collaborative areas including an oversized bar height table that anchors the kitchen area, a conference room, and flexible space with tiered seating and multiple small breakout zones.
