Friends in Low Places, a sprawling honky-tonk situated on Nashville’s bustling Broadway Street, provides 4-stories of Music City charm with a modern spin on classic country motifs.

The main floor and mezzanine are an homage to all things country western. Straight-shooting bar stools sit under cantilevered pendants at the two first floor bars that flank the main stage. Opposite the stage sits a bank of horseshoe shaped booths with board and batten walls and ceilings and a healthy dose of western decor and Americana.

The buzz of the honky-tonk gives way to the more genteel setting of the third floor Kitchen Studio. A large-scale checkerboard floor of stained walnut and cream painted floors ground the space and is mirrored in the sophisticated painted paneled ceiling that is accented with delicate wood beams. A well-appointed kitchen takes center stage among groups of softly floral lounge groupings that exude Southern hospitality and charm.

Things take a decidedly more masculine turn in the Membership Club. Accessed through a concealed panel door off the main foyer, this loungey bar’s dark moody vibe is complimented by mid-century furnishings, a luxe play of textures and heavy drapery. The glow from the central fireplace creates a warmth that is echoed by the coffered tin ceiling with inset smoked mirror inlays. A rounded bar with gracefully swooping walnut trim and subtle brass accents echo the walnut of the Club’s plank floor and rich radiused door casing.

The rooftop is a return to the vivacity and spirit of the honky-tonk, but with a tropical twist. The Oasis boasts a tiki bar replete with thatched roof and totem stools, a central bar with massive garage doors that open onto a stage area on one side and a lively rooftop overlooking Broadway. Palm trees, cabana umbrellas and plenty of lounge areas to soak up the sun with daquiri in hand make The Oasis a little slice of paradise in the heart of Nashville.
