Each perfectly curated space within The AC Hotel Detroit exudes understated elegance and intention. Taking cues from the AC brand’s European Modernist aesthetic, the hotel’s design is simple and clean while also providing the layers and warmth discerning travelers expect in a boutique hotel.
Upon entering the hotel, a large opening affords guest a view straight though the well-appointed lobby and sleek lines of the Conservatory to the patinaed brick of the historic Bonstelle Theater – the perfect juxtaposition of modernist design and Detroit’s unique architectural history. The lobby’s softly lit walnut coffered ceiling and the clean lines of the concrete floor inlaid with brass offer the perfect interplay of materiality that mimics that of the existing architecture and the new construction. The reception desk is tucked off to the side of the main entry framed by a soft white soffit and glossy marble panels.
A series of arched openings with sleek wood casing lead guests into the lounge which maintains its sense of intimacy despite its high coffered ceilings and full height windows. The lounge entry is situated between the well-styled ebonized millwork of the media center and the softly textured walnut tambour of the elevator surround. Centered between is a gracious central fireplace flanked by two soft seating groups that bring texture and color into the space.
The guestrooms offer a complementary blend of clean lines and warm materiality that allow the generous windows in the rooms to take centerstage. Refined, welcoming and restorative, the AC Hotel Detroit invites guest to experience European luxury in the heart of Detroit.
