We were thrilled to take on the interiors of this 38-story, 1920s Art Deco building with the explicit goal of creating the most luxurious apartment living in the city of Detroit. Preserving the beautiful historic marble corridors and elevator lobbies, this former office building was stripped to its core and reimagined as residential with more than 100 custom units.
An unusual concept for such a big project, a highly customizable approach offers 29 different floor plan configurations across three different finish levels, helping residents personalize their spaces with personalized entry valets, niches, floating credenzas, and open shelving configurations throughout.
In the lobby and common areas, we opted for a light, bright backdrop to complement the existing stone, adding elevated brass details in keeping with the high quality of the architectural renovation. Shapely furniture with sumptuous materials–marble, mohair, leather, and ebonized oak–brings an even deeper richness to the subdued palette.
